MTN backtracks decision to increase MoMo charges

The new charges have been suspended until further notice

 African’s largest mobile network operator, MTN, has made a U-turn on its decision to review mobile money charges.

In an earlier announcement by the telecommunication network, it was noted that effective Saturday, July 1, 2023, subscribers will experience a 1% charge on cash-out transactions below GH2,000 and a flat rate of GH20 that will be deducted directly from the customer’s wallet.

 However, the telecommunication giants have suspended this decision in a new SMS dispatched to their customers.

 According to the SMS sighted by 1Family Radio, the new charges have been

“Y’ello, valued customer, the planned review of the cash-out fees for MoMo, scheduled for July 1, 2023, has been withdrawn until further notice.’’

 “The current cash out fee of 1%, capped at Gh 10, still remains and will be charged to your wallet.’’

 “Do not pay any other fees; we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,’’ the SMS noted.
