Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, has beseeched all the flagbearer hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to run their campaign with greater decorum.

He asserts that the candidates’ main objective should be to defeat former President John Dramani Mahama rather than discredit themselves in the upcoming primary elections.

The politician, who also serves as the lawmaker for Nsawam-Adoakgyiri, confirmed as much during an interview on TV3, monitored by 1Family Radio, that John Mahama will be the NPP’s biggest obstacle in the general elections of 2024.

“Our caucus is very disciplined; you cannot openly campaign on our platform, and if you do, I will remove you from the MP’s WhatsApp platform,” he said.

“The MPs also understand that they have their own constituencies to win; however, there is a larger picture to winning an election, so you may endorse your candidate, but it should be done in moderation.”

“Accordingly, I was very careful in the choice of my words during this supposed exchange between myself and our senior colleague, Honorable Agyapong,” he stated.

“Our current issue is not with us; it is with the NDC. Because of John Mahama’s legacies, we must take no chances in preventing him from winning the presidency; that is what we are focusing on, not ourselves,” Dompreh said.
