Member of Parliament for the Builsa Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has rubbished the lawsuit filed against former President John Dramani Mahama.
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC, has been sued by a Ghanaian journalist and a member of the NPP by the name of Kenneth Kwabena Kuranchie over his presidential bid.
According to Mr. Kuranchie, Article 66 (1) of the 1992 Constitution states that a person seeking a second presidential bid must be a sitting president; however, Mahama is seeking a second term after being out of office for about 7 years.
He also requested the court to order the former president to seek parliamentary approval for his engagements as the flagbearer of the NDC or, in the alternative, desist from his presidential bid in accordance with Article 68 (2) of the constitution.
But in Dr. Clement’s opinion, this lawsuit against Mahama has only proven to the general public that the ruling NPP party is apprehensive of Mahama.
In a Twitter post by the politician sighted by 1Family Radio, he asserted that this lawsuit will not deter the electorate from making the right choice.
“This lawsuit can’t stand in the way of the people’s choice. It only confirms what Ghanaians know: your (NPP) morbid fear of JM,’’ he wrote.
“Mahama will win with a parliamentary majority because he offers a superior alternative to your corrupt, reckless, galamsey, family, and friends governance,’’ the tweet read.
