Livingstone Etse Satekla, Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste popularly known as Stonebwoy has expressed his profound gratitude to Mohammed Kudus and his team Ajax for promoting his newly released 5th Dimension Album.
The ‘5th Dimension’ album which was released just recently has already debuted number 8 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
According to Stonebwoy, Kudus and his international club Ajax contributed massively to the success the album has attained within this short time of its release.
Speaking in an interview Accra FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the musician stated that he was invited by Ajax because Kudus happens to be a huge fan of him.
“Kudus has been a Stonebwoy fan. He messaged me on Twitter, and I answered. From that point on, the two of us got along well. When I did album activation and listening parties with the business community and various labels from around the world, I just so happened to be in Amsterdam. I met Kudus in Amsterdam, and since Kudus liked me, Ajax offered to actually welcome and invite me to the club,’’ he said.
Ajax is a significant team according to Stonebwoy, and when they invited him over, they made a huge deal out of it on their social media platforms, which have more than 19 million followers.
“This provided me with that kind of drive, and this process is known as activation. In order to spread the song over the world, you must perform all these activations, which is how it happened,’’ Satekla explained.
“100%. I won’t take it away because it’s marketing and you need fans who aren’t just Ghanaians to see what you’re offering. Thanks to Ajax for inviting me and for using their social media platform and presence, especially Kudus, who didn’t back down from me,’’ he stated when questioned if Kudus and Ajax factor aided his album.
Stonebwoy added that some Ghanaians leaving overseas are too shy to associate themselves with their fellow Ghanaians when they travel outside. He urged them to put a stop to this attitude.
“Some Ghanaians who reside abroad are reluctant to support anything Ghanaian but quick to support non-Ghanaian events. Most of them exhibit a sense of self-importance when they associate with outsiders rather than with their own Ghanaian people, but Kudus has disproved the rule and shown me love,’’ he added.
He urged Ghanaians living overseas to attend events and to show up in large numbers to support his colleagues musicians Sarkodie and Gyakie as they travel the globe.
