Veteran highlife musician, songwriter and producer, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley has issued an apology to Okyeame Kwame after he lost a defamatory law suit filed by the latter.

Some years ago, Gyedu-Blay alleged some musicians benefited from the GH$2 million the government gave to the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA)

Speaking in an interview on 3FM on the 22nd of February, 2020, Gyedu-Blay accused Obour, the president of MUSIGA of giving a share of the money to Okyeame Kwame.

In reaction to this, Okyeame Kwame sued Gyedu-Blay for defamation after he refused to render an apology to Kwame as he was asked him to do. On March 23, 2023, the defamation case was settled through an arbitration process in which the court required Gyedu to apologize to Okyeame.

In a post shared by Ambolley on Linkedln, he has retracted the statement he made three years ago about Okyeame Kwame and the president of the MUSIGA.

The statement sighted by 1Family Radio indicated, “I was mistaken concerning some of the details of the matter particularly with respect to my colleague musician and MUSIGHA member Kwame Nsiah Apau also known as Okyeame Kwame and I wish to correct and clarify those facts.’’

“Obour did not give Okyeame Kwame a personal loan from MUSIGHA funds. To support artistes and enable them access loans, MUSIGHA entered an arrangement with Midland bank and provided collateral for the arrangements,’’ he clarified.

He continued that Okyeame Kwame only took advantage of the initiative and applied for the loan from Midland bank which has was granted. “He has informed me that he has since paid back in full,’’ he noted.

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley apologized for any humiliation suffered by Okyeame Kwame because of his statement.
