Ghanaian businesses to get special global legal identity – Vice President

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana has announced the government’s intention to enable Ghanaians businesses partake in a globally accepted verification process to give them credibility and global reach.

According to the Vice President, this process will provide businesses operating in the country a single source of identity verification.

A Facebook post by Dr. Bawumia sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that this ”single unique global legal identity will make it easier for transactions within Africa, amongst businesses and beyond.”

The post stated, “I spoke at the opening ceremony of the 53rd General Assembly of the World Trade Centers Association in Accra on Monday, April 24, and noted that the next logical step in Government’s integration and economic development agenda is to enable Ghanaian Businesses to partake in a global accepted verification process to give them credibility and global reach.’’

It continued, “I disclosed that following the successful roll-out and acceptance of the Ghana card as the single source of identity for Ghanaians and persons living in Ghana, Government has begun discussions with the Global Legal Entity Identification Foundation (GLEIF) to provide a single source of identity verification for all businesses including SMEs operating in Ghana.’’

Vice President Dr. Bawumia stated,  ‘I urged the African Continental Free Trade and Area Secretariat to come on board and let us get legal identity for all businesses across the African continent.’’
