Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister has stated that the government from hence forth will spend what it earns judiciously because of the current economic challenges.

According to him, they are willing to protect the public purse irrespective of the economic mess the country is facing.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Joy Business monitored by 1Family Radio, the minister noted that he is committed to taking Ghana to the promised land and he will do this come what may.

“You have to take the country across the Jordan and that is what I intend on doing despite the difficulties involved. I am confident that we are on the right path because we are doing the right thing,’’ he said.

He continued that Ghanaians must learn how to generate funds internally by paying their taxes even if the government is able to secure the bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“Hopefully, we will get the approval of the IMF Board very soon but then what lesson are we learning from this as a country?’’ he quizzed.

Ken believes the best thing to do as Ghanaians is to avoid wastage of public resources and also control our expenditures.

“I think Ghanaians have to understand how to protect the public purse, the importance of paying our taxes and preserving government resources,’’ he stated.
