The German wife of the late player Christian Atsu, Marie-Claire Rupio was not able to read her tribute to her deceased husband as she broke down in tears mid-way.

The final funeral rites of Atsu which is being monitored by 1Family Radio is taking place in front of the State House.

Marie got choked on her own tears and this prevented her from reading her tribute therefore a female relative had to read the tribute on her behalf.

In the tribute read on her behalf, it was noted, “lying before me today is the mortal remains of a beloved father and husband. I knew little that morning that God is going to call you home. It breaks my heart to lose you. In life, I loved you dearly and in death too, I do the same.”

According to the tribute by Marie-Claire, Atsu will always be with her because he seems to be immortal. She wrote, “you did not go alone, for part of me went with you. Your love is still my guide and though I cannot see you, you are always on my side. You were so full of life and seemed to be immortal.’’

In her tribute, the widow noted that she sees part of Atsu in their children and for this reason, she will always be reminded of him. “Your smile, your love, I see in our children’s smile. You are never really gone as part of you is within them. You are loved and missed beyond measure. But as you usually say, God win,” she lamented.
