It has been reported that two children have died following the downpour on Tuesday, March 7,2023 in Bortianor.
Following a report by UTV, the mother of the two dead children amidst tears narrated that their house was shattered down due to the heavy winds which followed the downpour. She and her three children were carried by the rain but she was saved with her younger child by some neighbors however, her two children couldn’t make it as they were carried away by the water.
Another eyewitness also narrated that the father of these deceased children tried to save them after the house was crushed but when he got to them, the rain has already carried them away. He mentioned that the elder child who is a girl was eleven years of age while the younger one, a boy was nine years of age.
He furthered that the mortal remains of the girl was found by some of the residents in the community at dawn. According to him, they have been waiting for NABCO and the police but they haven’t showed up yet.
A report by another witness indicated that as at 5am, some of the residents were still looking for the boy, adding that the boy has just been found dead. He called on the authorities to help them by at least constructing proper drainage system for the community.
