Twelve new cases of Lassa Fever have been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service in Ghana after the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research conducted some tests.
Lassa Fever is a viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus. It is transmitted through contact contaminated rodents’ urine and faeces. The incubation period is 2-21 days.
On Sunday, February 26,2023, the GHS reported two cases however, twelve new cases have been confirmed after the GHS traced 56 people who may have been in contact with the initial two victims.
Currently, there are thirteen active cases, one death and zero recoveries.
