Kwesi Appiah, the former coach of the senior national team has asserted that Christian Atsu should be honoured with a monument for his achievements.

The mortal remains of the late Atsu arrived in Ghana on Sunday February 6,2023 after being trapped in a rubble when an earthquake hit Turkey.

According to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the government will get fully involved with the family to the deceased player to get him a befitting burial.

However, Kwesi Appiah believes that this is not enough considering the achievements of the late player. According to him, there should be a memorial structure that will create an everlasting memory of Christian Atsu.

Speaking in an interview on Onua FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the former coach who gave the late player the chance to play for the Black Stars stated that there should be a monument in his hometown to always remind the children that someone from their village has been able to attain greater heights.

He noted that considering how well he played for the Black Stars and how he died that there should be monument to honour Atsu.

He was awarded the player of the tournament in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in which Ghana came second after losing to Ivory Coast on penalties.
