Akwasi Boateng, a kumawood actor popularly known as Akrugu has indicated that he was forsaken by his family and friends because of his looks.
Speaking in an interview on Ambassador TV monitored by 1Family Radio, the actor stated that he was considered as “bosom ba’’ because of how puffed up his eyes are. He hinted that his father abandoned him and his mother when she gave birth to him because he was scared of how Akrugu looked.
Akrugu mentioned that some of his colleagues in the movie industry didn’t want to associate with him because of hus physical looks. He added that some of them still say hurtful things about him when they meet.
He furthered that when he joined the movie industry, he was ugly but he believes he is no longer ugly because things have changed for him. According to him, prior joining the industry, he was an introvert and ashamed to mingle with people because they ridiculed him.
“I have never seen my father because he abandoned me and my mother because of my condition,” he lamented. He furthered that the movie industry has helped him although he has not made any profit yet but he believes his time will come.
Akrugu concluded that even if God blesses him like Dangote and Despite, he won’t change his looks through a surgery.
