A Ghanaian media personality and the host of Metro TV morning show, Randy Abbey has blasted the Finance Minister for using the “boa me na me boa wo” phrase in his speech on February 6,2023.

Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister of Ghana in his update on the DDEP on February 6,2023, used the phrase “help me, let me help you” to urge individual bondholders to sign up to the DDEP and he advised Ghanaians to rationalize their expenditure to restore economic stability.

Reacting to this statement, Randy on his show stated that the finance minister has no right to use this phrase because he is to be blamed for the economic hardship Ghana is facing today.

According to him, the government has led the country into this ditch and now wants to put his hand into the wallets of Ghanaians to take their hard-earned savings. He doesn’t understand what Ofori-Atta meant by saying “help me, let me help” because he has no help to offer anyone after leading us into a ditch.

The Member of Parliament for the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency on the ticket of the NPP, Sylvester Tetteh defended the Minister by stating that the implication of the Minister’s statement is that Ghana belongs to us all therefore, every Ghanaian is being urged to willingly surrender whatever they rightfully own in order to restore macroeconomic stability.

In response to this, Randy stated that he understands the “help me, let me help you” phrase but he was enraged it came from the Finance Minister. He asked how the government can help anyone after mismanaging the economy.
