Al Jazeera Media Network (Al Jazeera) has disclosed that the President Akuffo-Addo was notified before publishing the Gold Mafia documentary.
In a letter issued on behalf of the president some weeks ago, the president demanded for an apology and retraction of the Gold Mafia documentary aired by Al Jazeera.
The recent reaction by the network on the Gold Mafia documentary was in response to a letter written to them by a journalist with TV3.
In the letter by the journalist to Al Jazeera, the journalist enquired if the letter issued on behalf of the president his secretary has been duly received by Al Jazeera.
Al Jazeera on May 4, 2023, has replied the letter by the TV3 journalist in a letter they issued. According to them, they had already responded to the letter from the president.
The letter which was sighted by 1Family Radio indicated, “thank you for your inquiry. We have responded to the letter from the president of the Republic of Ghana, correcting some parts of its content and clarifying various points.’’
It continued, ‘’Prior to the publication of Gold Mafia, we wrote to the president outlining the claims made by Alistair Mathias. The president’s response appears near the end of the documentary.’’
