Clement Clinton Blay, the national chairman of the Citizens for Truth and Accountability, Ghana (CITAG) has taken a swipe at the statement made by Bryan Acheampong on Saturday.

Bryan Acheampong, the lawmaker for Abetifi on the ticket of the NPP on Saturday, April 8, 2023, announced that there is no way the ruling government will hand over power to the biggest opposition party in the country.

“It will never happen that the NPP will stand on a platform to hand over power to the NDC. It will never happen. We will make sure that NPP remain in government at all cost,’’ Bryan noted while addressing some members of the party at Mpraeso-Kwahu in the Easter Region.

He added that the New Patriotic Party will resolve to any means available to retain power in the 2024 presidential election.

However, according to the chairman of CITAG who also doubles as the CEO of the Shaip Africa foundation, the statement by the lawmaker is reckless and he must not be allowed to go scot-free.

“The voice is clear. The statement he made was reckless, and as a democratic country, this shouldn’t go unpunished. He is trying to instigate the NPP members while instilling fear and panic in their thoughts,’’ he stated in an interview on Rainbow Radio monitored by 1Family Radio.

He furthered that he must be summoned by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) over the statement he made because it projects anarchy and despotism.

“The BNI must either invite him to speak or arrest him. By virtue of his statement, he had accepted anarchy, tyranny, violence and lawlessness.’’

Clement noted if the ordinary Ghanaian had made such statement, he would have been arraigned and punished for inciting violence in people but because Bryan is a member of the ruling party, he has not been summoned for questioning.

He concluded that the government and the Council of State must take an action against Bryan for his undemocratic statement.
