It has announced by the Ministry of Energy that there would be an interruption in the supply of gas in some part of the country for the next fourteen days.

According to the power distributing company the Western Region Atuabo Gas Processing Plant has been shut down for some time now and this may affect the power supply to some power plants in the country for the next fourteen days.

A press release by the Ministry of Energy on the 29th of March, 2023 sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that this interruption in the power supply which commenced on Saturday, March 25, 2023, is to ensure the “reliability of the gas processing plants and transmission infrastructure.’’

It was noted that the shutdown will affect the gas supply to some power plants which will in turn hinder the supply of power to some consumers.

The statement hinted that the Ministry will purchase an additional gas from Nigeria to cope with the approaching adverse effects of this shutdown.

“In the circumstance, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will shortly release a timetable to this effect,’’ the statement noted.

The Ministry concluded that it is working actively with all concerned stakeholders to ensure that any adverse effects of the shutdown is alleviated.
