About twenty soldiers have been alleged to storm the Ashaiman community on Tuesday dawn and beat up some civilians they came across after questioning them.

The Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Mr. Ernest Norgbey confirmed to the media that some military men have stormed the neighborhood and they have been brutalizing some civilians in the community. This happened on the dawn of Tuesday, March 7,2023.

This reportedly comes after a soldier was killed by a mob in the neighborhood over the weekend. It was alleged that the said soldier was ambushed and stabbed by a gang on his way to visit his family.

In reaction to this, about twenty soldiers allegedly stormed the community on the dawn of Tuesday, 7,2023, and beat up the civilians they came across after interrogating them.

News reaching us is that the community is currently on curfew for fear that they might be beaten by the soldiers. According to the report of a witness on social media, the soldiers arrived in the community around 2am at dawn.

Another report by an eyewitness on social media indicated that the neighborhood which was normally busy is still serene with all shops closed as at 4am. He presumed this was due to the rainfall until he came out and saw about twenty soldiers in the vicinity. He added that he couldn’t even see any vehicle around.

It has also been reported that the military men knocked on the doors of the civilians and anyone that comes out receives some number of slaps.
