Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the paramount chief of the Ashanti Kingdom has advised Alan John Kyerematen, the former Minister for Trade and Industry and the other members of the New Patriotic Party to support the person who emerges as the flagbearer of the party.
He made this statement when Alan John kyerematen, one of the aspirant flagbearers of the NPP paid him a courtesy visit at the manhyia Palace. Kyerematen asserted that the purpose for his visit is to seek the blessings of Otumfuo in regards to the upcoming flagbearership elections.
Otumfuo guaranteed Alan Kyerematen of his blesssings. Otumfuo took this opportunity to urge all the members of the party to assist anyone who triumphs as the flagbearer of the party.
He furthered that just as Alan Kyerematen has come to seek his blessings, that’s the same way his other opponents will also visit to seek his blessings. According to him, God is the only person with the power to ordain a leader and whoever wins this election will be decided by God.
The paramount chief of the Ashanti Kingdom asserted that the only thing he can offer is his blessings and advice. He therefore told Alan that he will bless him like he has done before and advised to organize a respectable campaign devoid of verbal abuses.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu also charged the NPP party to carefully select a proficient person who has the interest of the nation at heart. He stated that whoever the party elects might become the president of the country and therefore the person should have a good heart.
Osei Tutu encourage Alan Kyerematen to go and campaign about what he intends to do if he becomes the flagbearer of the party and also to be decent during his campaign.
